Deleted Scene: About Time (Take 2)

Jasper had almost forgotten about the people surrounding them. All he could focus on was Susannah. One hand gripped in his, she danced seductively for him, pressing her body to his, their lips brushing. He shivered under her touch, drawing her closer, his free hand grasping her dress at the curve of her back. He felt the corset ribbons under his fingers. He hungered to pull them away and feel her hot soft skin.

Finally, they tasted sweet relief as their lips touched. She moaned as they kissed feverishly. Soon, both of his hands were tangled in her corset ribbons. He pulled her closer and closer until they could no longer breathe.

Jasper would give up breathing to stay like this with Susannah forever.

This kiss wasn’t like before. It wasn’t like the other drunken slurred make-out sessions the two had shared on many occasions. They both knew this was different. Without words, they were telling each other the truth.

This was more than just a kiss. More than just a drunken mistake.

“Let’s go,” Susannah whispered between kisses, taking his hand and leading him away through the dancing bodies; up the stairs and into one of the small offices spared from the decorations. It was dark inside and as soon as Susannah locked the door behind them, Jasper grabbed her back into his arms and moved her over to the desk.

Her moans were delicious in his ears as he lifted her up onto the desk and slipped between her open legs. He ran his hands down over her fluttering skirts and up her soft thighs. He released a groan of satisfaction. Her hands stayed clutching his hair as they kissed, their tongues messy and their bodies hungry for each other.

He watched as Susannah eagerly unbuttoned his costume’s waistcoat, slipping her hands underneath his loose shirt and onto his chest. His knees quaked under her touch, grasping her to him once again. His hands slipped back underneath her skirts. She called his name and lolled back her head as Jasper’s fingers found the hem of her knickers. He closed his eyes unable to control himself. Her legs were tightening around his waist; staplers, a mouse and papers shoved off the desk as Jasper pressed his crotch to hers and laid her down.

Drunkenly, he climbed on top of her as she unbuttoned his trousers. She continued to moan his name, kissing him frantically.

This was all he’d ever wanted; Susannah.

And this was all she’d ever wanted; Jasper.

He kissed her hot neck, nibbling as she whispered his name, drawing her hands up and down his back, urging him on further. Fumbling, his heart pounding his chest, Jasper half-kneeled, struggling to move down his trousers and boxers. Then he caught sight of her lying beneath him, chest heaving and eyes fluttering closed.

This was it.

Jasper tried not to think about how this would be his first time; tried to ignore the anxiety radiating through him, making his hands shake and his knees almost buckle. He had to get this right. Susannah was expecting it.

Still fumbling with his trousers, he suddenly realised they were missing something.

“Condom,” he groaned. Why hadn’t he thought to bring one?

Probably because you didn’t think you’d get this lucky tonight.

“What?” Susannah breathed heavily, finally opening her eyes to look at Jasper’s pale face. “Are you okay?” She went to sit up when Jasper began kissing her again. “No, wait.” She held him back, staring up into his nervous eyes. “What’s going on, Jasper?”

“Nothing, I just forgot to bring a condom,” he sighed, averting his eyes from hers.

“What?” Susannah looked alarmed. “No, we can’t then.” She sat up, slamming her forehead into Jasper’s. They both winced in pain and stroked their heads. She swung her legs over the side of the desk, her hunger dying as she calmed.

Jasper sat beside her, bowing his head low. How could he have forgotten a condom? “I’m sorry,” he murmured, nursing his sore head.

“It’s okay. We probably shouldn’t do this anyway.” Susannah straightened out her skirts and readjusted her breasts in her bra.

“What? Why?” Jasper was crestfallen. Had she not wanted this? Did she not like him that way? Was this all one big joke to her?

“Because it’s not right.” Susannah lifted her focus from her boots to Jasper staring dumbfounded back at her.

Not right? Susannah – this is the only thing I know that’s right in my life,” Jasper blurted out, hardly able to control himself. He looked away suddenly ashamed. This was not how he’d planned to tell her how much he cared about her.

“What sex in a teacher’s office? Jasper, this isn’t right.” She shook her head, stroking her cold bare arms. The heat had left her, leaving her feeling empty inside.

“Yeah, I guess not. Maybe you’re right. Maybe we should just be friends.” It pained Jasper to say those words but what else could he do? She obviously didn’t care for him that way.

Friends?” Susannah was taken aback. “What do you mean? I don’t want to be friends with you.” She stared at his handsome profile, silhouetted by the moonlight seeping through the open blinds of the office window.

“Oh, okay. Well that’s it then.” Jasper couldn’t hide the disappointment and hurt from his voice.

He got to his feet and made to leave when Susannah grabbed his wrist, turning him to face her.

“Jasper, when I say I don’t want to be friends, I mean I don’t want to be just friends. I haven’t done for a long time.” Susannah wasn’t sure where she’d been able to find the courage as she stood up to meet him. Once again their faces were inches from one another.

“Really?” Jasper bit his lip, wondering if he’d misheard her.

“Really,” Susannah giggled breathlessly. “I’ve just been so frightened to tell you. I mean, we don’t really talk and when we do say anything to each other, we’re normally drunk. Even then, we don’t usually chat, we just make-out. The next day, you pretend as if nothing ever happened. I figured that you were only interested in doing that with me so I’ve been too afraid to tell you how I really feel just in case you thought I was needy.” Susannah was on the brink of tears. For over a year, since the two had started their make-out-drunk-ignore-each-other-sober dance, she’d been terrified Jasper wasn’t interested in a real relationship. How was she to know any different?

“I don’t think you’re needy. I thought you were only interested in me for the same reasons. I was shit scared I’d tell you I liked you and you’d brush me off because you thought I was needy,” Jasper laughed half-heartedly, fixated upon Susannah’s stunning eyes gazing up at him. “So when you brought me up here I thought we’d have sex and then that would be it. But of course, I forgot the condom.” Jasper rolled his eyes.

“Good,” Susannah whispered, touching his cheek. She blushed when Jasper smiled back at her. “Good, I’m glad you forgot it, otherwise we would have shagged and that would have been it.”

“Yeah, I suppose you’re right,” Jasper smirked. “It probably would’ve been terrible to be fair.”

“Why?” Susannah scoffed a laugh.

“Well, I don’t really have much experience in that department.” Jasper looked across at the window, unable to watch as Susannah took in what he’d said.

“Wait, you’re a virgin?” she questioned, a smile twitching on her lips.

Jasper nodded, wondering if it had been such a good idea to tell the girl of his dreams about his inexperience. However, instead of laughing or walking away, she pulled him down for another long, tender kiss.

“That doesn’t bother you?” he asked, thinking about the way his male friends teased him and his virginity.

“Why would it?” she smiled, brushing his sunset red fringe back from his face. “That means you’re all mine.” Her smile turned to a flirtatious grin.

Jasper had to restrain himself from throwing her back onto the desk. “It’s not the same for guys,” he snorted a laugh.

“I don’t care.” Susannah kissed him lightly, her eyes alight with anticipation. “It also means I can teach you everything. Just the way I like it,” she winked. It was hit turn to blush. She laughed, tangling her fingers in his hair and drawing him down for another kiss.

He cherished every second. “As you wish,” he whispered.

Susannah moaned once again as they stepped back toward the desk.

“Wait – wait – wait,” she snorted another laugh, holding him steady, “maybe we should go on a proper date before we go any further?”

“A date? What like, dinner and a movie?” Jasper quizzed trying to remember the last time he went on a date.

“No, like deer hunting and mass-murder. Of course, dinner and a movie, you muppet,” Susannah joked, sitting back on the desk and grinning up at him.

“Sure, yeah, that’ll be awesome. Sober?” Jasper said hesitantly.

“Yes, sober,” she giggled, tugging him toward her. “I think we’re going to be spending much more time together… sober.”

“As long as I’m with you I don’t care,” Jasper smiled down at her, picking her pirate hat off the desk and placing it upon her head of corn-coloured hair.

“I’m afraid you’re stuck with me now, Jasper Maguire,” she winked, wrapping her legs around his waist and dragging him down for another kiss.

He didn’t resist.

This was everything they’d ever yearned for.
