This section of the HSA Wiki is dedicated primarily to the original characters of Hillside Academy from the first draft completed in 2008 by a thirteen year old version of myself (yay!). It was a pile of trash but it can’t be dismissed. It was the foundations for which I wrote the rest of the series upon and no matter how horrendous it is to read back, wondering how I could have ever been this awful, it’s important to remember that all our first drafts were atrocious. But they can’t be disregarded. So here’s a nod not just to the foundations of HSA and everything it became, but the origins of the characters too.
Some details I will be leaving out to save spoilers but I won’t be leaving anything out just because it embarrasses me. I’m laying it all bare in this section!
As with all characters and the changes they go through over time, it’s not something I ever chose, per se, but rather, like a human, something they have grown into. As many authors know, controlling your characters is like herding cats; useless and a waste of energy. It’s better to let them do whatever they want and what you end up with is a natural result of progression, similar to that which occurs in living breathing human beings.
